UX Designer by Qualification,
Data Scientist by Passion

Hi, I'm Laura. As a User Experience Designer and Design Lead, my ultimate goal is to design a system that offers a great experience to its users and to enable other designers to do the same.

In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has become an integral tool in improving these user experiences. However, many designers struggle to understand how AI works and what capabilities it can provide. Even though AI could be a great solution for a user problem, designers do not follow that approach due to a lack of knowledge. Equally problematic, they play along with implementing AI features that do not solve real user pain points because they cannot formulate an argument against it.

This shift in our working environment has inspired me to dedicate the last couple of years becoming fluent in data science, especially in the field of AI. I have done so through multiple online and offline classes, which most recently lead me to finish the IBM Data Science Professional Certificate.

As a UX designer with data science certification I can collaborate with data scientists on a much deeper level to help build user-centric algorithms and to truly design end-to-end AI experiences. This multidisciplinary skill-set enables me to easily define when and how to use data and AI and to enhance product experience, rather than sacrificing the experience to add AI to the feature list.

When I'm not designing or breaking Python code, I enjoy attempting to cross every European country by bike and reading quirky biographies.
